Permanent makeup (also contour makeup or pigmenting) is a kind of cosmetic tattoo on the facial area. This is how, for example, long-lasting lip liner or tint as well as eyeliner and brow tattoos are done, with micro fine coloured pigment in the top layer of the skin.

 The needles used for this are so ultra-thin that they barely hurt or irritate the skin. All of the colours used undergo strict controls of course and are tested toxicologically and microbiologically. Unlike tattoos, permanent makeup lasts up to 3-5 years before needing to be retouched.
